Based in Riga, Latvia, MAREUNROL'S was established in 2012 by fashion designers Marite Mastina-Peterkopa and Rolands Peterkops. MAREUNROL'S works in different fields of art to develop the concept and story behind their designs and vision – the duo creates fashion collections twice a year, builds set designs and fashion installations, produces short fashion movies and photography installations, creates costumes for operas and theatre performances.
Amongst years of theatre costume design experience and achievements, in 2012 MAREUNROL'S designed the costumes for the Mikhailovsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg presentation of 'Eugene Onegin', receiving critical acclaim German magazine ‘Opernwelt’. MAREUNROL'S have been included in the book "Pattern: 100 designers, 10 curators" (Phaidon, 2013) as one of 100 most talented designers working today. Winners of the 24th festival of photography and fashion in Hyeres in 2009, the label was the first in the history of the festival to win two main awards at once (Grand Prix L'Oreal and 123 award). Regularly presented at Paris Men’s Fashion Week, MAREUNROL'S have also participated in such fashion and art events as Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space (Czech Republic, 2011), Arnhem Fashion Biennial (the Netherlands, 2009 and 2013) BARCELONA 080 (Spain, 2009), ITS#SIX (Italy, 2007).
While MAREUNROL'S creativity is expressed in an avant-gardist way, the brand presents ready-to-wear collections to project a current world onto itself, wrapped in surrealistic detail. Each collection is based on a concept, giving life to an idea rather than just garments, supported by the many disciplines Mastina-Peterkopa and Peterkops master to express their creativity.
